1. In third grade I was the star of the school play, "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves". Not a stretch seeing as how I have dark hair, fair skin and pink lips naturally and I was good at acting. The problem was another girl in my class wanted to be SNow White so bad that when she found out she didn't get the part she sobbed in class. Being the sensitive child I was, I was ready to just give her the part until my mom told me that it's not my fault that she was upset and I should be happy for myself.
2. I have huge texture issues. There are several foods that trigger them the most. Mushrooms are a big one as are raw tomatoes. I can only eat a tiny bit of jello before I start to gag uncontrollably and yogurt could be hard too. I also cannot under any terms scoop the dish drainer gunk out of the basket with my bare hands without dry heaving so bad that it results in actual vomiting at least 1/2 the time.
3. I cannot go to sleep unless I have lip balm on.
4. I am terrified of shots. I rarely get them but last time was when I was vomitting uncontrollably with it coming out the other end just as constantly and they gave me a shot of something to curb the nausea and vomitting. When they told me I needed the shots I sobbed like a baby and Donnie was like WTF it's just a needle. I nearly passed out from hyperventilating. Cute, right?
5. I have an unhealthy love for fresh pineapple. Sorry, just drooled a little.
6. I hate driving cars with automatic transmissions. HATE it.
7. I can do the wave with my tongue.
And now, the moment you have all been waiting for. I hearby nominate:
Queen Bee
Sarah R
Nicole
jenn
Hollie
Beautiful Mess
Christina
Now, off to let them know how awesome they are!

Dear China,
I know you guys invented fireworks like eleventy thousand years ago and I also understand that you are WAYYYY excited that October 1st is 60 years of communism and still going strong... *bones on that one, guys*
But really. Fireworks and firecrackers as exciting as they might be don't need to be waved around and brought out every time someone manages to hit the toilet when they squat to pee.

Wow. Amazingly well put together information.
We all know I am a dirty hippie and like it.
I try NOT to debate the whole circumcision/intact thing because it always gets ugly and it is hard to debate a topic that is as emotionally charged as altering a newborn's genitals.
If you're interested, though. This lady is a Dr and has posted an amazingly informative essay on the benefits/necessity of a foreskin (pupus).
Functions of the Foreskin: Purposes of the Prepuce
I never want to be that person who runs around ranting and raving about people mutilating their sons. I know it is a personal subject, I only hope that people will at least educate themselves and not make an ignorant decision or one based solely on fear from the inaccurate information the medical community provides to most new and expecting parents. All I ever ask is educate yourself.

I think I forgot to blog this...
but we are not TTC. No big dramatic reason other than Donnie thought about it and decided he was just not ready to share me and my time with another little one.
And at first it upset me, but I respected his decision.
Now, the baby itch has subsided. I've been spending more time cherishing time with Quinlon and it hit me one day that I don't want to have to divide my attention off him now. He is quite high maintenance and more than enough for me right now. So, sorry blog followers there won't be a BFP post in the near future nor another cute little Allen to ooh and aah over.
But I promise to keep posting cuteness from the little Allen we have now.
And in the time being I'll just live vicariously through all the pregnant lady blogs I stalk... er follow.

It's fine, really.
I only had to step over around and on you while juggling hot pans, sharp knives and various diced food ingredients. It's fine, really.
You decided that dinner was not good enough for you and threw the entire bowl on the couch cushions while I was in the bathroom peeing. It's fine, really.
You then threw several EPIC tantrums when I refused to give you candy, potato chips and "nuh nuhs" It's fine, really.
I've been mistaken by you as a jungle gym, target to be run into at full speed, safety net, chair and punching bag to the point that you putting your hand on my leg has me cringing. Mommy is touched out, but it's fine, really.
Donnie will be home in an hour. I can do this. Then I am having a few shots and a chocolate bar.

Marriage.
Such a loaded word.
Nothing prepares you for how much your limits will be pushed and how your heart will be tested.
But the reward... ah the fullness of your heart when things are smooth and happy. The happiness that overruns to the point you wake up smiling just because you are with the one you love more than anything on the planet.
I rarely share details of my married life on here (or anywhere on the interweb, actually) because it is so easy to paint an inaccurate picture good or bad and words can't be taken back. I have a wonderful husband who is truly my equal in all things and compliments me well. We fight. We argue. We cry. But most importantly, we love and it has always brought us through even the most harrowing of conflict. Even on the brink, our love for each other has pulled us back many times and when the dust settles, I am so incredibly grateful to have someone so passionate about me that no odds so bad that he doesn't at least try.
The Beatles were wrong, you need more than love to make a marriage work, but love will go a damn long way to making you succeed.

because I definitely needed...
the pleasure of bathroom scrambling cramps with explosive consequences should my scrambling be the slightest too slow while battling the clothing-phobic, must wear shoes at all times bottomless pit that happens to be named Quinlon.
Lest you think I had no fun at all today, here is a list of the things I did:
-Hung up laundry to dry only to be followed by a curiously counterproductive small person who managed to pull down any low-hanging item and toss it on the dirty patio floor.
-Writhe around in bed for about an hour while whining about the nausea and listening to Donnie get more and more frustrated with that small person who is insatiable in all ways when mommy is sick.
- Practiced repeatedly for the 100m dash and, at times, 100m hurdles when aforementioned small human managed to lay out an obstacle course that most Ironmen would shudder in fear at the sight of.
- Played VJ for a bemusingly demanding audience of one who screams with a gusto not seen since 1980s style flasher flicks if you happen to guess wrong on the translation of toddlerisms which movie he is requesting.
- Cooked lunch for the endless pit person who decided it was more fun to make modern art on the couch and floor with slightly chewed up couscous and carrots. Points for creativity were awarded when he successfully achieved accuracy over a 2 foot space into my cleavage.
- Doubled as a jungle gym for a monkey-like creature and learned that the colorful (and tender arm) is the most fun to grab when balance is lost and a fall is imminent.
So... how was your day?

The moment you've all been waiting for...
right?
Here's some pictures of yesterday's progress. Other than two legs being left and needing to add the tail and some transitional shading between Guan Yin and the dragon, it is done.
Today is rough. I'm pretty sore and my elbow is still swollen. :-\
So worth it, though.

aaaaannd I'm spent.
6 hours in the tattoo chair getting the worst of it over with. That's right, the elbow. DONE!
I'll post some progress shots in the morning when I take off the plastic to wash it. It's pretty impossible to see right now between the excess ink ooze and the glare from the plastic wrap.
I am totally beat. Enduring that sort of pain takes a lot out of you... It's eerily similar to labor actually. Not quite as bad of course. ;-)

Life in a nutshell...
Quinlon is growing... gah it makes me crazy to see just how much he changes day to day. His vocabulary is exploding. It's quite amazing and humbling.
Tattoo is progressing nicely. Two more sessions, max and I will be finished.
Donnie started school today (I should have too, but the damn babysitter conundrum :sigh:)
Quinlon just ripped one and it is so bad I am gagging as I type. The toddler fart-and-run is in full effect 'round these parts.
Music writing is going fantastically. I had forgotten how much this feeling of synthesis is energizing and thrilling. I am so glad I finally beat the worst case of writer's block in existence.
And, I leave you with some recent cuteness:

That is all.
Oh, you want pictures, well too bad.
ok, ok... but you'll have to wait until AFTER I get Donnie's hemmed tomorrow and can take pictures in sunlight. So neener neener!

Phew...
I have such weird mood swings and get anti blog and then feel guilty... silly, right?
So, bullets?
- I only got emails from 3 of my crafty peeps. I need the others to email me color preferences or whatnot at jessi.dooo "at" gmaildotcom
- Joellen I am going to send you an email regarding the Brody Dalle thingy in a few minutes, sorry to drag my feet. also, I totally love the new project she is doing.
- Our babysitter fell through so I have to delay starting school until next year. Even if we found one before classes start, I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving Quinlon with them on such short notice. Yes, I am THAT mom. The one that has a list of things to do and not do and is super particular. Plus, people are so nonchalant about the milk thing and if the person decided to be a dick and give it to them anyway, I would be livid. So, justifiably, I want to know this person pretty well before I leave them alone with my child.
- In the meantime, I have a Chinese tutor to help me move forward faster with learning the language, both written and spoken and have started a new regime of cleaning/cooking and all around just setting our house in order after months of being fucking lax as hell.
- I have a tattoo appointment tomorrow to finish the outline of Mr Dragon (he is currently legless, so I guess he is technically a serpent at the moment) and start shading. The two halves should start looking more like once piece instead of the two separate pieces they look like now. I am stoked and nervous because tomorrow will be the christening of...DUN DUN DUNNNNNN the tender underside of my bicep. You're cringing, aren't you? I know I am.
- Here's the first winter woollies. Winter hits hard and fast 'round these parts and I gotta get on the ball with Quinlon's winter cloth diaper woollies AND his sweaters and hats. I also have nearly finished a matching hat, but no pictures since I need to add the little chin straps and the pom pom on top and weave in the ends.
Hmm, time to start dinner!
